Jack Grealish’s brother updates fans on the Aston Villa, Tottenham transfer
Aston Villa, Tottenham & Jack Grealish
Will transfer deadline day see Jack Grealish leave Aston Villa to join Tottenham?
Claims that the midfielder will leave Villa Park this summer have been doing the rounds for weeks.
Indeed, many fans put two and two together to get five when Grealish was subbed out of Aston Villa’s match against Hull on Monday night.
Yet, despite the mountains of updates on Grealish and Spurs, no deal has transpired.
Indeed, Aston Villa are mounting their best efforts to retain Grealish this season. As reported in the Times on Thursday:
Tottenham have been interested in signing Grealish, 22, for several weeks but the club waited until Tuesday to make a first formal offer of £25 million. Villa responded by rejecting the bid and refusing to sell the midfielder. What followed was claim and counterclaim.
Jack Grealish’s brother slams the Mirror
On Thursday the Mirror have published an article titled “Jack Grealish still desperate for Deadline Day Spurs move after seeing Champions League dream crushed.”
In it, journalist James Nursey claimed that Grealish is “heartbroken” and “let down” that a move to Tottenham has stalled.
Of course, Grealish has grown up in the Aston Villa youth system. He joined the club in 2001.
But have the Mirror printed lies?
Kevan Grealish, the brother of the Aston Villa star, has taken to social media to rubbish the Mirror’s story.
See Kevan Grealish’s updates below.

Tottenham & Man United: What’s next for Toby Alderweireld?
Toby Alderweireld on transfer deadline day
It would be no surprise if Toby Alderweireld was a little nervous on Thursday.
Will Alderweireld still be a Tottenham player at 5.01pm?
For months rumours have been flying about linking Alderweireld with a move from Spurs this summer.
Last season was rough for the defender. After suffering a bad injury against Real Madrid, Alderweireld lost his place in the Tottenham XI.
At the same time, everyone knows that Alderweireld has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for cheap next summer.
That has lead to speculation that Man United could sign the 29-year-old.
Man United deal looks unlikely
Yet, as transfer deadline day passes, it looks unlikely that Alderweireld will move to Man United.
That message is rubber-stamped across several articles in the Times on Thursday.
Where is Alderweireld’s agent today? The Times report:
Toby Alderweireld’s agent, Stijn Francis, is ready to fly over from Denmark if United bid for his client, who Tottenham Hotspur value at more than £50 million.
But even if Man United don’t complete a deal for Alderweireld, he still could leave Spurs. The Times announce:
The Tottenham Hotspur centre back Alderweireld, among others, could yet find a club abroad. He has been linked with a move to Italy if United do not bid for him. The defender’s representative is scheduled to arrive in London today to try to push for a move.
It’s worth noting that the Times fail to list any European suitors for Alderweireld.

Man United, Tottenham & Wolves make their Layvin Kurzawa move
Man United & Layvin Kurzawa
Why have Manchester United waited this long to make a move?
According to L’Equipe on transfer deadline day, Manchester United have posted an interest in PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa.
That’s obviously bad news for Luke Shaw on the eve of the new Premier League season.
25-year-old Kurzawa is under contract at PSG until 2020.
L’Equipe report that Man United spoke to PSG on Wednesday about Kurzawa’s availability.
Unsurprisingly considering how late we are in the summer transfer window, PSG are said to be only willing to sell Kurzawa if they receive an “XXL” bid.
Are Man United about to pay over the odds for Kurzawa?
Tottenham & Wolves
Yet Man United aren’t alone in chasing Kurzawa.
Tottenham, who are yet to sign a single player this summer, have been dragged into the Kurzawa story too.
The well-known social media ITK account Paris United also claim that Tottenham have contacted PSG about Kurzawa.
Paris United claim that while Kurzawa is the only senior left-back at PSG, the Ligue 1 side will consider selling him as they target Alex Sandro from Juventus.
It’s claimed that Alex Sandro, who has previously been linked to Man United, has already agreed personal terms with Les Parisiens.

— Paris United (@parisunited6) August 8, 2018
But there’s more interest in Kurzawa, as the Sun drag Wolves into the story too.
Wolves, of course, shocked many when they sold left-back Barry Douglas to Leeds United this summer.
Could the Premier League new-boys sign Kurzawa on deadline day? The Sun report:
Wolves have targeted Layvin Kurzawa in their late splurge.
The Premier League newcomers completed the £18million signing of Adama Traore and lined up Belgium star Leander Dendoncker.
Paris Saint-Germain left-back Kurzawa is also on their hitlist in a £22million move that would break their transfer record again.

Chelsea vs Liverpool: Eden Hazard talks to Nabil Fekir about a move
Nabil Fekir: Chelsea vs Liverpool
With less than 48 hours remaining in the transfer window, one has to doubt whether Nabil Fekir will leave Lyon.
Fekir, who is now a French World Cup winner, was tipped to join Liverpool at the start of the summer.
Indeed, rumours have done the rounds that Liverpool agreed a five year deal with Fekir before that transfer imploded.
With time running out for Premier League clubs to sign players this summer, Fekir has now been linked with a move to Chelsea.
These Chelsea links are more substantial than some may have thought, following fresh quotes from Blues striker Olivier Giourd.
Agents Olivier Giroud & Eden Hazard
Giroud has told French outlet Foot Mercato the following about Fekir’s possible move to Chelsea:
I spoke to Fekir when we were together for France, when his move to Liverpool fell through.
We discussed Chelsea, I think even Eden said a couple of words to him. We would obviously welcome him, he is a super player.
Fekir racked up 24 goals and 9 assists across all competitions last season for Lyon.
It’s also worth noting that Fekir was sidelined for 6 weeks between February and April last season.
Olivier Giroud has confirmed that Eden Hazard and himself have had a chat with Nabil Fekir over a move to Chelsea…
But the papers led us all to believe that Hazard was desperate to leave for Real Madrid.

Mateo Kovacic & Chelsea
On Wednesday morning the Times have also reported on Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic chase.
The broadsheet confirms that Real Madrid have offered “Chelsea the chance to sign Mateo Kovacic” on a season-long loan.
Chelsea also hope to sign Kovacic after he reiterated his determination to leave Real to play regularly. Real do not want to sell the midfielder because he is 24 and seen as a prospective successor to Luka Modric, his Croatian compatriot who is eight years older. A loan deal is therefore more likely.

Everton close in on Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma
Everton & Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma
Everton have been linked with a raft of centre-halves this summer.
Top of the list has been Barcelona and Colombian international Yerry Mina.
Marco Silva has also reportedly had an interest in Man United’s Argentine defender Marcos Rojo.
Yet, with two days remaining in the transfer window, the Times on Wednesday today claim that Everton may end up landing Kurt Zouma from Chelsea:
Everton are close to a deal to sign Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea. Marco Silva, the manager, wants to bring in at least one centre back before the transfer deadline tomorrow and has been frustrated in agreeing a deal for Yerry Mina, of Barcelona.
Everton only have two centre-halves on their books right now. That’s after Ashley Williams moved to Stoke on loan.
The Toffees only have Phil Jagielka and Michael Keane fit and ready to start the season.
Mason Holgate is also sidelined with a knock.
Zouma frozen out at Chelsea
The writing has been on the wall for Zouma at Chelsea for a while.
Perhaps the biggest indication that Zouma needs to find another club is the fact that the Frenchman doesn’t have a squad number at Stamford Bridge in 2018-19.
Kurt Zouma has been left without a Chelsea squad number after new signing Jorginho was given the No 5 shirt. [Mail] pic.twitter.com/PyklOffwt6
— TweetChelseaUK (@TweetChelseaUK) August 2, 2018
Moreover, Zouma spent last season out on loan at Stoke City.
Zouma has also had injury problems. A couple of years ago he spent an extended period out of action with a knee injury.
The 23-year-old defender is under contract at Chelsea until 2023.
Everton’s summer transfers
The club have this summer made two very impressive additions in the form of Richarlison and Lucas Digne.
As for the outgoings from Goodison Park, Kevin Mirallas, Wayne Rooney, Funes Mori, Joel Robles and Ashley Williams have departed.

Chelsea ready to let four midfielders go as Mateo Kovacic is set to leave Real Madrid
Chelsea & Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic
On Tuesday Marca broke the news that Chelsea were close to signing Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic on loan.
Marca claimed that Kovacic has told Real Madrid he no longer wishes to train with Los Blancos.
Moreover, Marca believed that a deal to join Chelsea on loan could be sealed imminently.
La situación de Kovacic en el Madrid se desbloquea. El jugador ha entrenado en solitario tras saber que el club ha cambiado su postura. El acuerdo de su cesión al Chelsea se anunciará en las próximas horas https://t.co/AGVJYTTCi8
— FichajesMARCA (@Marcatransfer) August 7, 2018
For the record, to-date Chelsea’s only major outfield recruit this summer has been Jorginho’s move from Napoli.
On Wednesday morning the Times have also reported on Chelsea’s Kovacic chase.
Chelsea’s four midfielders up for sale
If Kovacic does arrive, Chelsea will have a surplus of midfielders on their books.
Maurizio Sarri appears to favour a 4-3-3 formation.
N’Golo Kante and Jorginho seem locked in for two of the three midfield slots in the Chelsea XI. Most have suggested that Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley are fighting over the final midfield slot.
Yet, if Kovacic does sign on at Stamford Bridge, the Croat would surely be in line for that position.
Either way, Sarri will have a tough time trying to keep all his players happy. Which is why the Times today note that four players could leave the Blues before Thursday’s 5pm cut-off in the transfer window:
Kovacic’s arrival would probably mean that at least one of Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tiémoué Bakayoko will leave Chelsea.
West Ham are interested in Drinkwater, while AC Milan are sniffing around Bakayoko.
Loftus-Cheek may end up moving abroad in 2018-19.

Kroenke’s offer to buyout Usmanov confirmed & why Arsenal fans should be worried
Arsenal: Kroenke’s offer to buyout Usmanov
Two weeks after the Financial Times broke the story, Stan Kroenke has made his move.
It’s been confirmed on Tuesday morning that Stan Kroenke is on the verge of almost total control at Arsenal.
Kroenke holds 67% of Arsenal, while the second biggest shareholder is Alisher Usmanov at 30%.
The FT recently announced that Usmanov is ready to sell off his 30% shareholding in Arsenal after becoming disillusioned with his investment.
Kroenke has now officially offered to buyout the Russian billionaire in a deal valuing the Gunners at 1.8 billion pounds.
To be clear, Kroenke will offer £550 million to buyout Usmanov’s stake.
Will the deal happen?
There appears to be little doubt that Kroenke will buy out Usmanov imminently.
Kroenke, often dubbed ‘Silent Stan’ for the distance he keeps from Arsenal, has released the following statement:
We at KSE are moving forward with this Offer leading to 100% ownership of the Club. We appreciate Mr Usmanov’s dedication to the Arsenal Football Club and the storied ethos and history the Club represents.
It’s been well documented over the years that Usmanov isn’t a fan of Kroenke. Indeed, both parties have tried to buy the other out previously.
Usmanov offered Kroenke $1.3bn for his stake in the Gunners, which was rejected. While Kroenke has offered Usmanov £525m for his shares, which was also rejected.
Stan Kroenke has reached agreement with Alisher Usmanov on his buy-out of Arsenal. It’s not just an offer – Usmanov has accepted the terms of a takeover that values Arsenal at £1.8 bn.

Why Arsenal fans should be concerned
Arsenal fans may now be sweating about the future of their club.
Indeed, the Arsenal Supporters Trust have taken to social media in recent days to explain why they are so fearful of Kroenke having total power at the Gunners.
But what can the AST do about this?
Sadly they seem to be reduced to shouting from the sidelines, unable to affect the activities of the club.
Which is how most Arsenal fans have felt for seasons…
Disastrous new for Arsenal. Looking set to be wholly owned by American investor. Will transfer business to the US. No accountability, no transparency, finances hidden. Supporter shareholders forced out. Custodianship dead.
— tim payton (@timpayton) August 7, 2018
And the financing of the purchase of Arsenal shares being financed by loans. Arsenal being mortgaged so an investor American can make money out of the club
— tim payton (@timpayton) August 7, 2018
Taking this action in the week the new season starts just shows how little regard Kroenke has for the club. It’s what you get when club falls into hands of someone who doesn’t support the club but merely sees it as money making. RIP Custodian Arsenal
— tim payton (@timpayton) August 7, 2018
If Stan Kroenke wholly owned Arsenal it’s likely the clubs ownership structure would be transferred to the secretive US state of Delaware meaning Arsenal’s financial and operating business models would be hidden away from scrutiny and challenge https://t.co/hXBNKWQggR

Liverpool told Lyon open to selling Nabil Fekir – L’Equipe
Liverpool, Lyon & Nabil Fekir
One of the big articles in Monday’s L’Equipe is an update on Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir.
As everyone will no doubt know, Fekir has been linked with a possible move to Liverpool all summer.
Indeed, prior to the World Cup, it’s believed that Liverpool agreed a five year deal with Fekir.
However Lyon have since managed to hold onto their World Cup winner. And on Monday, Fekir will return to Lyon for the first time since playing in Russia this summer.
Lyon will sell Nabil Fekir – L’Equipe
In an obvious tease in Liverpool’s direction, L’Equipe announce that Lyon have not closed the door on selling Fekir this summer.
Does that mean he’ll join Liverpool? That’s unlikely at this stage, as Premier League clubs must complete their transfer dealings by 5pm on Thursday.
L’Equipe believe Lyon would need to receive an offer too good to refuse to sell Fekir at this stage of the summer.
Putting a figure on that, an offer of 60 million pounds could convince Lyon to sell.
But Liverpool fans have been warned that such an offer is unlikely to arrive from Anfield.
L'Équipe: Lyon would allow Nabil Fékir to leave this window but Liverpool won't be trying again for him before the window closes.

Liverpool’s summer business
Regardless if Liverpool miss out on Fekir, the Reds have still had a successful summer in the transfer market.
At the back, Alisson has become the world’s most expensive keeper following his £67 million move to Anfield from Roma.
The arrivals of Fabinho and Naby Keita have boosted Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options.
While further forward Xherdan Shaqiri has provided another attacking avenue for Klopp.
