Everton & Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma
Everton have been linked with a raft of centre-halves this summer.
Top of the list has been Barcelona and Colombian international Yerry Mina.
Marco Silva has also reportedly had an interest in Man United’s Argentine defender Marcos Rojo.
Yet, with two days remaining in the transfer window, the Times on Wednesday today claim that Everton may end up landing Kurt Zouma from Chelsea:
Everton are close to a deal to sign Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea. Marco Silva, the manager, wants to bring in at least one centre back before the transfer deadline tomorrow and has been frustrated in agreeing a deal for Yerry Mina, of Barcelona.
Everton only have two centre-halves on their books right now. That’s after Ashley Williams moved to Stoke on loan.
The Toffees only have Phil Jagielka and Michael Keane fit and ready to start the season.
Mason Holgate is also sidelined with a knock.
Zouma frozen out at Chelsea
The writing has been on the wall for Zouma at Chelsea for a while.
Perhaps the biggest indication that Zouma needs to find another club is the fact that the Frenchman doesn’t have a squad number at Stamford Bridge in 2018-19.

Moreover, Zouma spent last season out on loan at Stoke City.
Zouma has also had injury problems. A couple of years ago he spent an extended period out of action with a knee injury.
The 23-year-old defender is under contract at Chelsea until 2023.
Everton’s summer transfers
The club have this summer made two very impressive additions in the form of Richarlison and Lucas Digne.
As for the outgoings from Goodison Park, Kevin Mirallas, Wayne Rooney, Funes Mori, Joel Robles and Ashley Williams have departed.
