Cohen Probe Reaches Into Trump’s Business, and the Red Line He Drew
With Donald Trump’s former lawyer turning on him and reports that prosecutors want to speak with his financial chief, federal investigators appear to be delving increasingly into the president’s business interests -- an area he has sought to keep off-limits. The Trump Organization is being put under the microscope as Trump’s former personal lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen signals a willingness to cooperate with U.S. prosecutors in New York. The FBI seized his emails and audio files, including at least a dozen with audio of Trump or of Cohen talking about Trump.

Follow Amazon's stock price in real-time here. BAT pulls ahead in U.S. vaping battle, shares jump
British American Tobacco (BATS.L) plans to test its new Eclipse tobacco heating device in the United States this year, allowing it to pull ahead of Philip Morris (PM.N) in the world's biggest vaping market. Its shares rose 5 percent as BAT, the world's second-biggest international tobacco company by revenue, also reported better-than-expected first-half profit, helped by its recent takeover of Reynolds American. BAT said it received a "substantial equivalence" clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for an improved version of its carbon-tipped tobacco heating product called Eclipse, a major regulatory hurdle that clears the way for a market launch.

China says still open to talks on scrapped Qualcomm-NXP takeover
China's market regulator said it still hoped to find a solution to antitrust concerns that doomed Qualcomm Inc's (QCOM.O) $44 billion (£33.57 billion) takeover of NXP Semiconductors (NXPI.O), after finding that proposals to address the issue had fallen short. U.S.-based Qualcomm abandoned on Thursday what would have been the world's biggest ever semiconductor sector takeover after a deadline the companies set passed without the deal winning China's approval. China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) said in a statement on Friday that proposals put forth by the firms to resolve Chinese antitrust concerns were insufficient, but it hoped to continue communicating with Qualcomm.
