Cesc Fabregas injured after Arsenal

Will Cesc Fabregas be ready for the start of the season?

The Chelsea midfielder has confirmed on social media that he’s now injured.

While Fabregas hasn’t gone into detail, he’s revealed that he now needs crutches for the next “couple of days”.

Cesc appears to have sustained an injury during the pre-season friendly with Arsenal.

The setback means that Fabregas is unlikely to be involved in Sunday’s Community Shield at Wembley against Man City.

Will he also miss the start of the Premier League campaign next weekend?

Chelsea begin with an away tip to Huddersfield Town.

Chelsea’s midfield pecking order

On Friday in the Times, Chelsea fans are informed about how Maurizio Sarri is sizing up his midfield options at Stamford Bridge.

The big takeaway from the Times is that Ruben Loftus-Cheek may still leave the Blues before the transfer window closes.

Rather than joining another Premier League side, Loftus-Cheek may move to a team on the European mainland for more minutes.

When it comes to Sarri’s likely midfield this season, Chelsea fans learn the following:

N’Golo Kante and the new signing Jorginho seem certain to play in Sarri’s preferred 4-3-3 formation, with Cesc Fàbregas likely to provide the creativity, leading Loftus-Cheek to battle with Tiémoué Bakayoko, Ross Barkley and Danny Drinkwater for minutes from the bench.

Sarri is also seeking midfield reinforcements, while the club are struggling to offload fringe players such as Drinkwater because of their high wages.
