As per a report from Sky Sports News tonight, Premier League outfit Fulham have agreed a fee with Swansea City for defender Alfie Mawson.
Highly-regarded
Mawson, a 24-year-old central defender, has been on the books of Swansea since 2016, when he made the move to the Liberty Stadium from Barnsley.
And the powerful English stopper has gone from strength to strength during his time in Wales, with his performances at the heart of the club’s defence this past season known to have alerted some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
All told, Mawson featured in all 38 of Swansea’s league outings, proving the most consistent and dependable presence in the Swans’ squad throughout a tumultuous campaign which eventually saw the club relegated to the Championship.
Fee agreed
Swansea’s demotion has unsurprisingly since seen the Brentford youth product’s future called into serious question, with the likes of West Ham United, Burnley and Fulham long-touted as potential destinations.
And, after reports began to mount over the last 24 hours that the latter of these sides were closing on a deal for Mawson, Sky Sports have tonight revealed that the Cottagers and Swansea have reached an agreement over a fee for the stopper.
Mawson looks set to make the move to the move to Craven Cottage for an initial fee of £15 million, potentially rising to £20 million with bonuses.
The Swans’ star is expected in London for his medical tomorrow morning, before potentially putting pen to paper on a contract with Fulham in the evening.
