Fernando Torres loses on Sagan Tosu debut

Huge cheers

Fernando Torres made his debut for new side Sagan Tosu last night, but it wasn’t a fairy tale beginning, with the side losing, with his side on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline.

The player was so pleased to be debuting for his new side – and took to social media to show his pride before the game.

It didn’t go quite as planned for the forward – yet the crowd went wild for him despite that, with Torres a marquee figure and someone who is of course hugely popular with crowds.

Legend

Torres is of course a footballing legend, and has a legion of fans across the world.

After so much success with Spain and also his club sides, the forward made the decision to join Andres Iniesta in Japan – who incidentally also suffered a loss on his debut for Vissel Kobe, as they lost by a huge 3-0 scoreline.

The duo knew their time at top level football was over, yet moving to Japan was a shock decision, with the MLS and China more popular destinations for players who are looking to wind down their careers – or for one big final payday.
